FAIRYTALE BALLET
In this fun class, a magical make-believe component and theme will engage students by tapping into their creativity and stimulating their imagination.  Children will explore dance through the use of props such as wands, tutus, tiaras, crowns and capes.  Enchanting stories and fairy tales are used to inspire and encourage a love for dance.  Students are guided age-appropriately through consistent structure and outlines to learn elementary ballet vocabulary and French ballet terms.  Lessons will strengthen coordination, develop poise, balance and flexibility and encourage a relationship to music.    Appropriate attire is a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

MOMMY AND ME FAIRYTALE BALLET
Mommies and their baby ballerinas will whirl, twirl and explore ballet with tutus, tiaras, sparkling wands, imagery, musical instruments and props.  This class teaches basic toddler ballet by engaging and inspiring little dancers’ imaginations and creativity with magical themed fairy tales, stories and props.  The class focus is on movement, coordination, balance, rhythm and stretching.  Appropriate attire is a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

This fun, expressive dance class is for children ages three to five years old and provides a fun, but structured atmosphere where preschoolers can bust a move! MUSICAL THEATER with MOVE PERFORMING ARTS
Sing.  Act.  Dance.  This is Musical Theater! Students will look forward to coming to class with this fun and interactive program.  The goal of the class is to teach students musical theater skills such as speaking, singing, acting and dancing, while working together to create as a team.  The program will foster students’ creativity, responsibility, independence, teamwork and dedication while providing training for those who want to be a part of Move’s “Comedy Fu Theater Company.”  It will also strengthen social and communication skills and self-esteem by working with others and taking pride in their accomplishments.  During each session, the class will learn a new musical theater piece.  A showcase for friends and family will be held on June 3 to highlight what was learned in class.

“DIVA BEATS” with MOVE PERFORMING ARTS
So you want to become the next girl group sensation? Become a part of Summerlin’s very own pop singing group – Diva Beats! Get your voice in gear with Move Performing Arts in this fun, interactive class that will teach you about harmony, pitch and tone.  Each month, the group will learn one pop song with coordinating choreography in hip hop or jazz funk style.  No experience is necessary.  A showcase for friends and family will be held on June 3 to highlight what was learned in class.

COMEDY FU CHILDREN’S THEATER COMPANY presents “ALADDIN THE MUSICAL”
Casting actors, singers and dancers ages six and older; everyone gets a part! Be a part of Move Performing Arts’ very own “Comedy Fu Children’s Theater Company” providing a professional training program for young people with a love for the stage.  This season, the company will rehearse and perform, Aladdin the Musical.  Aladdin is sure to send audiences on a musical adventure filled with romance, mayhem and the power of love. 

Participants are making a serious commitment to the rehearsal and show schedule beginning in March and continuing through June.  Class payments will be made monthly.  (Comedy Fu Children’s Theater Company will allow the student to grow their performing skills in both traditional and musical theater.)

An informational meeting will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 12 p.m. at the Trails Community Center to learn more about the production and what to expect.  In May, a required costume fee will be collected by “Move Performing Arts.”

DRAWING AND PAINTING FOR KIDS - NEW
This class allows artists of all abilities to pick a subject of their choice (florals, landscapes, seascapes, portraits etc.) and create a piece of artwork with personal attention from the instructor who has more than 25 years teaching experience.  Students will be taught the basics of composition, color selection and mixing, rendering techniques as well as proportion and perspective.  This class is limited in size to ensure that each student receives the instruction and attention they need to create their masterpiece! LEARN TO SEW

BEGINNING FENCING
This beginning fencing class is a great way for students eight to adult to learn basic fencing skills.  As a modern sport, fencing encourages quick thinking, creative problem-solving, coordination and agility development.  Appropriate attire is athletic clothing such as a T-shirt, tennis shoes, and sweatpants, but no shorts please.  Equipment will be provided during the class.  Each participant must have a non-competitive ($10 per year) or competitive membership with USA Fencing.  Students may sign up online at www.usfencing.org or the instructors will help with sign-ups on the first day of class.

PRE-COMPETITIVE FENCING
This class is for intermediate fencers ages eight to adult and is designed to develop the technical and physical skills necessary to succeed to be a future competitive fencer.  Fencers must have their own uniform consisting of a mask, glove, jacket, plastron, knickers and socks.  Fencers also need to bring their own electric equipment: lame, body cord and electric weapon for electric bouting. (During the class, electric equipment rental will be available for $10 per day or $40 per month while supplies last.)  Class time includes bouting with pre-competitive or competitive fencers along with an added bonus of two lessons* per month (normally one lesson from the head coach or one lesson from one of the club assistant coaches during the class hours). *Lesson time will be scheduled by the instructor or the club manager. Each participant must have a non-competitive or competitive membership with USA Fencing.  Students may sign up online at www.usfencing.org or the instructors will help with sign-ups on the first day of class.

MIXXED FIT® – NEW
MixxedFit® is a dance fitness program that is a mix of explosive dancing and boot camp toning.  Dance to your favorite songs on the radio with added boot camp-inspired exercises to make your workout more effective and challenging.  Get in shape by using your own body.  No equipment is needed.  The choreography is easy to follow and simple.  Students can focus on their workout instead of worrying about what dance step to do.  If you can do things like squats, jumping jacks, and booty-shaking, you will have a blast in class!

DIODATICS WEIGHT TRAINING FOR WEIGHT LOSS/STRENGTH

PILATES GROUP REFORMER CLASSES—“RE-FORM” YOUR BODY
Beginning Pilates: Learn about Pilates in this beginning level class.  You will be taught to operate your Balanced Body IQ Reformer safely, apply six basic principles of Pilates, understand the Pilates language and perform a group of beginning exercises that are the building blocks of an effective Pilates workout.  This class should be repeated until you feel comfortable moving on to the intermediate level.  

Intermediate Pilates: This class expands your repertoire into a full body Pilates workout. Increase your vitality and strength and improve your flexibility, coordination, and balance.  Make this enjoyable workout an essential part of your weekly fitness maintenance.  The level of difficulty will be determined by the experience of the participants in each class.  (Prerequisite:  Introduction to Pilates)

TAI CHI - SOFT MOUNTAIN BREEZE
Learn the short form style of an ancient Chinese exercise consisting of slow relaxed movements that provide physical exercise for the body, concentration for the mind, and meditation for the spirit.  Tai Chi improves overall fitness, balance, coordination and agility.  It has also been shown to lower blood pressure and heart rates, promote relaxation and release stress and tension.  Those who practice Tai Chi on a regular basis tend to have good posture, flexibility, improved range of motion and mental alertness, and sleep more soundly at night.  Students will also learn Chi Kung - breathing for vital energy.

This class is a great way for students from middle school to high school to sharpen and refresh their algebra skills.  The fundamentals taught in this class focus on skills learned in both Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 and will help you gain a better understanding of the subject.  This course can also help prepare for placement tests such as the PSAT, SAT and ACT, and also serves as an awesome review for tests such as the GMAT and GRE. Students should bring writing materials for notes as well as a scientific calculator.  (TI-30-XA is recommended.)

DRAWING AND PAINTING FOR KIDS - NEW
This class allows artists of all abilities to pick a subject of their choice (florals, landscapes, seascapes, portraits etc.) and create a piece of artwork with personal attention from the instructor who has more than 25 years teaching experience.  Students will be taught the basics of composition, color selection and mixing, rendering techniques as well as proportion and perspective.  This class is limited in size to ensure that each student receives the instruction and attention they need to create their masterpiece! LITTLE LIONS CHILDREN’S BEGINNERS AND INTERMEDIATE MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM
Our Little Lions class is a great way for children five to seven years of age to learn the ABCs of self-defense, gain anti-bullying skills and be introduced to the multi-cultural martial arts systems.  Studies have shown that during pre-school and early elementary school years, children are building eight fundamental skills that are essential to their growth and development. These skills include focus, honor, teamwork, control, memory, balance, discipline, fitness and coordination. The Little Lions program targets these skills, along with other disciplines of listening, respect and courtesy through a comprehensive training system that is specifically designed to generate maximum results. The exercise and physical fundamentals incorporated into the program are challenging and a great way for students to gain flexibility, balance, strength, self-confidence and self-esteem.  We also understand the importance of fun and variety to maintain high interest and participation. Any child who completes this program may have a developmental edge in their early childhood which can make the transition into adolescence much easier. Parents who are interested in getting a great workout and learning self-defense alongside their children are welcome to take the class for an additional fee of $20. MANDARIN CHINESE FOR KIDS

This beginning fencing class is a great way for students eight to adult to learn basic fencing skills.  As a modern sport, fencing encourages quick thinking, creative problem-solving, coordination and agility development.  Appropriate attire is athletic clothing such as a T-shirt, tennis shoes, and sweatpants, but no shorts please.  Equipment will be provided during the class.  Each participant must have a non-competitive ($10 per year) or competitive membership with USA Fencing.  Students may sign up online at www.usfencing.org or the instructors will help with sign-ups on the first day of class.

PRE-COMPETITIVE FENCING
This class is for intermediate fencers ages eight to adult and is designed to develop the technical and physical skills necessary to succeed to be a future competitive fencer.  Fencers must have their own uniform consisting of a mask, glove, jacket, plastron, knickers and socks.  Fencers also need to bring their own electric equipment: lame, body cord and electric weapon for electric bouting. (During the class, electric equipment rental will be available for $10 per day or $40 per month while supplies last.)  Class time includes bouting with pre-competitive or competitive fencers along with an added bonus of two lessons* per month (normally one lesson from the head coach or one lesson from one of the club assistant coaches during the class hours). *Lesson time will be scheduled by the instructor or the club manager. COMPETITIVE FENCING – NEW
This program is designed for fencers who are competing at the local, regional and national level.  For those who are interested in possibly competing at the Summer National Championship or in Region 4 RYC, SYC and local tournaments, this is the class for you.  Fencers may also join the Pre-Competitive class with the head coach’s approval.  Fencers need to bring their own weapons and suits that are required from USA Fencing.  Each participant is required to have a competitive membership via www.usfencing.org.

Explore language development through the rhythmic nature of favorite childhood nursery rhymes.  Using basic American Sign Language, this unit offers parents a new way to communicate with baby before words are verbally spoken.  Your child will enjoy the movement, vocal play and songs ranging from classical favorites to beautiful lullabies.  Music and play are beneficial to the building of basic sensory and motor skills as well as social, cognitive, emotional and language skills.  Come join the fun in this timely tickle and bounce!

Transport your child into Kindermusik city, where ordinary sounds and sights on the street make a musical ensemble.  People shuffle their feet to a 4/4 beat.  Street musicians serenade and sing.  Clock towers boom, bellow and ring.  Classes are held with parent/caregiver present for the last 15 minutes, preparing the child for upcoming school day experiences.

FAIRYTALE BALLET
In this fun class, a magical make-believe component and theme will engage students by tapping into their creativity and stimulating their imagination.  Children will explore dance through the use of props such as wands, tutus, tiaras, crowns and capes.  Enchanting stories and fairy tales are used to inspire and encourage a love for dance.  Students are guided age-appropriately through consistent structure and outlines to learn elementary ballet vocabulary and French ballet terms.  Lessons will strengthen coordination, develop poise, balance and flexibility and encourage a relationship to music.    Appropriate attire is a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

MOMMY AND ME FAIRYTALE BALLET
Mommies and their baby ballerinas will whirl, twirl and explore ballet with tutus, tiaras, sparkling wands, imagery, musical instruments and props.  This class teaches basic toddler ballet by engaging and inspiring little dancers’ imaginations and creativity with magical themed fairy tales, stories and props.  The class focus is on movement, coordination, balance, rhythm and stretching.  Appropriate attire is a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

PRESCHOOL DANCE PARTY with MOVE PERFORMING ARTS
This fun, expressive dance class is for children ages three to five years old and provides a fun, but structured atmosphere where preschoolers can bust a move! Children will dance to music that increases rhythm, coordination and movement awareness, all while enhancing flexibility.  This is a fun and expressive coordination/dance class so come join in the Preschool Dance Party! A showcase for friends and family will be held on June 3 to highlight what was learned in class.
