FAIRYTALE BALLET
In this fun class, a magical make-believe component and theme will engage students by tapping into their creativity and stimulating their imagination.  Children will explore dance through the use of props such as wands, tutus, tiaras, crowns and capes.  Enchanting stories and fairy tales are used to inspire and encourage a love for dance.  Students are guided age-appropriately through consistent structure and outlines to learn elementary ballet vocabulary and French ballet terms.  Lessons will strengthen coordination, develop poise, balance and flexibility and encourage a relationship to music.    Appropriate attire is a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

MOMMY AND ME FAIRYTALE BALLET
Mommies and their baby ballerinas will whirl, twirl and explore ballet with tutus, tiaras, sparkling wands, imagery, musical instruments and props.  This class teaches basic toddler ballet by engaging and inspiring little dancers’ imaginations and creativity with magical themed fairy tales, stories and props.  The class focus is on movement, coordination, balance, rhythm and stretching.  Appropriate attire is a leotard, tights and ballet slippers.

COMEDY FU CHILDREN’S THEATER COMPANY presents “INTO THE WOODS”
Come join the cast of “Into the Woods!” Be careful what you wish for as Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s cockeyed fairytale comes to life in this adaptation of their groundbreaking, Tony Award-winning musical.  “Into the Woods” features all of your favorite characters – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and his beanstalk, and the Witch in this lyrically rich retelling of classic Brothers Grimm fables.

Serving as an ensemble member requires participants to make a serious commitment to learning the art of theatre and commit to the entire rehearsal and show schedule which begins in February and continues into June.  Three class payments are due on February 24, April 7 and May 25.  A costume rental and production fee is also required and will be payable to The Summerlin Council in May.  A one-time $25 materials fee is payable to MOVE Performing Arts.

THERAPY DOG PREPARATION AND INTERMEDIATE OBEDIENCE
Take your skills to the next level preparing you and your dog to go anywhere together.  In this class you will review all of the basic commands, handling techniques and drive control exercises you have already learned with your dog.  In addition, you will work with your dog to practice proper socialization skills with other canines and people.  Finally, your dogs will be challenged with obstacles, equipment, sounds and more to desensitize them for work in the real world.  There will also be an opportunity to take a mock test for those interested in preparing their pets to serve as therapy dogs.

LEARN TO SEW

This class allows artists of all abilities to pick a subject of their choice (florals, landscapes, seascapes, portraits etc.) and create a piece of artwork with personal attention from the instructor who has more than 25 years teaching experience.  Students will be taught the basics of composition, color selection and mixing, rendering techniques as well as proportion and perspective.  This class is limited in size to ensure that each student receives the instruction and attention they need to create their masterpiece! TECH 4 TOTS “INTRO TO COMPUTING”
This “Intro to Computing” class uses the Puterbugs Computer Learning Program, a proprietary software and curriculum developed by early childhood professionals.  (Tec 4 Tots is the only licensed provider of this program in Nevada.)  The lessons introduce technology (and/or STEM) concepts while reinforcing early academics and are geared for five to seven year olds.  Students work through a series of computer exercises that help build basic computer skills while using a computer mouse to help develop students’ fine motor skills.  Throughout the session, we will also utilize additional educational software safely and age-appropriately.

BEGINNING FENCING
This beginning fencing class is a great way for students eight to adult to learn basic fencing skills.  As a modern sport, fencing encourages quick thinking, creative problem-solving, coordination and agility development.  Appropriate attire is athletic clothing such as a T-shirt, tennis shoes, and sweatpants, but no shorts please.  Equipment will be provided during the class.   Each participant must have a non-competitive ($10 per year) or competitive membership with USA Fencing.  Students may sign up online at www.usfencing.org or the instructors will help with sign-ups on the first day of class.

PRE-COMPETITIVE FENCING
This class is for intermediate fencers ages eight to adult and is designed to develop the technical and physical skills necessary to succeed to be a future competitive fencer.  Fencers must have their own uniform consisting of a mask, glove, jacket, plastron, knickers and socks.  Fencers also need to bring their own electric equipment: lame, body cord and electric weapon for electric bouting. (Foil or Epee equipment rental is available per request during class and open fencing for a fee of $40 per session.  Family pricing is available on request.)  Class time includes bouting with pre-competitive or competitive fencers.  Each participant must have a non-competitive or competitive membership with USA Fencing.  Students may sign up online at www.usfencing.org or the instructors will help with sign-ups on the first day of class.

MIXXED FIT®
MixxedFit® is a dance fitness program that is a mix of explosive dancing and boot camp toning.  Dance to your favorite songs on the radio with added boot camp-inspired exercises to make your workout more effective and challenging.  Get in shape by using your own body.  No equipment is needed.  The choreography is easy to follow and simple.  Students can focus on their workout instead of worrying about what dance step to do.  If you can do things like squats, jumping jacks, and booty-shaking, you will have a blast in class!

PILATES GROUP REFORMER CLASSES—“RE-FORM” YOUR BODY
Beginning Pilates:
Learn about Pilates in this beginning level class.  You will be taught to operate your Balanced Body IQ Reformer safely, apply six basic principles of Pilates, understand the Pilates language and perform a group of beginning exercises that are the building blocks of an effective Pilates workout.  This class should be repeated until you feel comfortable moving on to the intermediate level.  
Intermediate Pilates:
This class expands your repertoire into a full body Pilates workout. Increase your vitality and strength and improve your flexibility, coordination, and balance.  Make this enjoyable workout an essential part of your weekly fitness maintenance.  The level of difficulty will be determined by the experience of the participants in each class.  (Prerequisite:  Introduction to Pilates)

TAI CHI - SOFT MOUNTAIN BREEZE
Learn the short form style of an ancient Chinese exercise consisting of slow relaxed movements that provide physical exercise for the body, concentration for the mind, and meditation for the spirit.  Tai Chi improves overall fitness, balance, coordination and agility.  It has also been shown to lower blood pressure and heart rates, promote relaxation and release stress and tension.  Those who practice Tai Chi on a regular basis tend to have good posture, flexibility, improved range of motion and mental alertness, and sleep more soundly at night.  Students will also learn Chi Kung - breathing for vital energy.

DRAWING AND PAINTING FOR KIDS
This class allows artists of all abilities to pick a subject of their choice (florals, landscapes, seascapes, portraits etc.) and create a piece of artwork with personal attention from the instructor who has more than 25 years teaching experience.  Students will be taught the basics of composition, color selection and mixing, rendering techniques as well as proportion and perspective.  This class is limited in size to ensure that each student receives the instruction and attention they need to create their masterpiece! LITTLE LIONS CHILDREN’S BEGINNERS MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM
Our Little Lions class is a great way for children five to seven years of age to learn the ABCs of self-defense, gain anti-bullying skills and be introduced to the multi-cultural martial arts systems.  Studies have shown that during pre-school and early elementary school years, children are building eight fundamental skills that are essential to their growth and development. These skills include focus, honor, teamwork, control, memory, balance, discipline, fitness and coordination. The Little Lions program targets these skills, along with other disciplines of listening, respect and courtesy through a comprehensive training system that is specifically designed to generate maximum results. The exercise and physical fundamentals incorporated into the program are challenging and a great way for students to gain flexibility, balance, strength, self-confidence and self-esteem.  We also understand the importance of fun and variety to maintain high interest and participation. Any child who completes this program may have a developmental edge in their early childhood which can make the transition into adolescence much easier. Parents who are interested in getting a great workout and learning self-defense alongside their children are welcome to take the class for an additional fee of $20. JIU-JITSU BEGINNING MARTIAL ARTS PROGRAM
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art, combat sport and self-defense system that is one of the most popular and fastest growing activities today. This art form emphasizes ground fighting techniques which involve various chokes and joint locks used to dominate and submit the attacker. Students can expect classes that will include a dynamic warm up, technique training and live sparring.  This program will expose the student to both the self-defense and competitive aspects of the sport. The exercise and physical fundamentals incorporated into the program are challenging and a great way for students to gain flexibility, balance, strength and self-confidence and self-esteem. We also understand the importance of fun and variety to maintain high interest and participation. TECH 4 TOTS “INTRO TO COMPUTING”
This “Intro to Computing” class uses the Puterbugs Computer Learning Program, a proprietary software and curriculum developed by early childhood professionals.  (Tec 4 Tots is the only licensed provider of this program in Nevada.)  The lessons introduce technology (and/or STEM) concepts while reinforcing early academics and are geared for five to seven year olds.  Students work through a series of computer exercises that help build basic computer skills while using a computer mouse to help develop students’ fine motor skills.  Throughout the session, we will also utilize additional educational software safely and age-appropriately.

ANIMATED: “INTRO TO CODING”
AnimatED: Intro to Coding is an innovative class that lets your child experiment with digital art and technology while simultaneously learning a basic computer programming language, SCRATCH, developed by MIT Labs.  Let your child’s creativity soar while they learn to write basic scripts, incorporate sounds and much more! This class is a fun, engaging way to introduce simple programming and animation to your child. All laptops, software and materials are provided. Explore a farm theme through music, motion and multi-sensory activities.  Your baby will enjoy the movement of a “hayride” and experience vocal play by using farm animal sounds.  Such music and play are beneficial to building your child’s basic sensory and motor skills as well as social cognitive and emotional language skills.

Lead your child on a magical journey into a remarkable toy shop filled with boats, trains, balls, Jack-in-the box and many other toys that will bring a glimmer to your child’s eyes.  Songs, dance and storytelling creatively engage your child’s imagination.  Classes are held with parent/caregiver present for the last 15 minutes, preparing the child for upcoming school day experiences.

SPANISH LANGUAGE CLASSES FOR TODDLERS
Help your child learn Spanish in this immersion-based setting using music, art, drama, and storytelling.  These dynamic classes, taught by an experienced and professional instructor who speaks the target language with fluency, will engage your child in the Spanish language and give them exposure to a new culture in a small group setting while having a blast in the process!
